Arrive at your luxury camp set on the banks of a seasonal river deep in the Tsavo West ecosystem. Afternoon game drive for your first encounter with Tsavo's famous red elephants — their coats stained the vivid ochre of the volcanic soil, they are unlike any elephant you have seen before.

A full day in Tsavo West — one of Kenya's most underrated safari experiences. The morning begins at Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water emerges from ancient lava rock at 227 million litres per day. An underwater viewing chamber lets you watch hippos moving in slow motion through the current — one of the strangest and most remarkable wildlife encounters in Africa.

Afternoon drive through the Shetani lava flow — a vast black river of solidified lava that erupted just 200 years ago and still dominates the landscape. The Chyulu Hills form a dramatic green backdrop. Keep an eye out for the rare black rhino, which has been successfully reintroduced to Tsavo West.

Drive into Tsavo East — Kenya's single largest national park, a vast wilderness of open red plains stretching to the horizon. Where Tsavo West is dramatic and volcanic, Tsavo East is raw and elemental: flat, immense, and teeming with wildlife concentrated around the life-giving Galana River.

Game drive along the Galana — Kenya's second-largest river — where crocodiles sun themselves on sand banks and enormous elephant herds come to drink. Lugard Falls, where the Galana surges through a narrow gorge of sculpted rock, is a geological spectacle unlike anything else in East Africa.

A final morning game drive in Tsavo East before departing the red dust plains and driving south toward the coast. As you near the Indian Ocean, the landscape transforms — lush tropical vegetation, the smell of sea air, and the sound of the ocean replacing the sounds of the bush.

Arrive at Diani Beach — consistently rated among the finest beaches in Africa. White coral sand, warm turquoise water, and the gentle rhythm of dhow sails on the horizon. Check into your beachfront villa and let twelve days of extraordinary Africa begin to settle into memory.
